Starting treatment – your first session
Treatment at U-Clinic is carried out over several stages. The first step after your application to U-Clinic for treatment is an initial assessment. During this first session we discuss your reasons for seeking help and the types of support we offer. Together with the psychotherapist, you will decide whether the therapy process offered by U-Clinic is for you. Please make sure that you arrive on time (not too early or too late) for your scheduled therapy session. Sessions last 50 minutes.
Consultation fee and free counselling
The counselling fee must be paid in advance for each of your first three sessions. Payment must be credited to the Together-Razem account at least 48 hours before each scheduled session. If payment is not received in advance as required, the therapy will not take place. (Advance payment is a security against cancellations and protects our scheduling system and client waiting list.) Since 2021 we offer 6 free session to clients with problematic gambling issues and their family members with thanks to Gambling Awareness Trust funding.
What happens after the initial assessment?
After the initial assessment you will be enrolled on our waiting list for weekly therapy. Your treatment will start as soon as a place becomes available. Waiting times vary. Our staff will let you know the current waiting period. Please let us know if you change your contact details (e-mail, phone number or address) and if you decide to withdraw from the waiting list or cease treatment.
Attending Psychotherapy Sessions
Our goal for you is to attend regular, weekly therapy sessions for the duration of your treatment. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. We ask clients to attend sessions on the same day of the week, at the same time as has been agreed in advance with your counsellor for the duration of your treatment. If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify your counsellor immediately. Notification of cancellation must be received at least 48 hours in advance of a scheduled session. If cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before the session, or if you miss a session without notice, you will be required to pay for the session in full. This is a required condition, to enable your therapy to progress effectively and the U-Clinic to manage an efficient scheduling system that works for all of its clients.
